Last week’s nor’easter, however, caused the boat to flip over, leaving it in need of repair.
The storm that swept through the area last week not only caused trees to be uprooted and left many without power, but it also caused a boat used to teach children about science and nature to capsize. The vessel, which is docked at the Abe Bashara Boathouse, belongs to the Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program and Greater Lawrence Rowing. According to Executive Director Jed Koehler, the boat is a 23-foot-long former scallop harvesting boat that was donated about six years ago and is used as an educational platform. Unfortunately, the storm caused the boat to flip over, leaving it in need of repair.
