Isle Royal is located on Lake Superior and is actually considered to be an archipelago, which contains 400 islands. This area is only open from May to October of each year, so you will need to plan accordingly to visit. The area does allow boaters to dock overnight, but you will need to obtain a permit to do so.
The area is best known for being an excellent spot for divers and if you are one who likes to get in the water, definitely bring your wet suit and scuba gear with you – the underwater sights are incredible.
