Equipment

The line is often made of monofilament or braided material and is weighted to help it sink to the bottom of the lake or river.

In traditional fishing, anglers use a variety of different casting techniques depending on the type of fishing they’re doing. For example, some anglers may use an overhead cast to get their lure as far out into the water as possible, while others may use a sidearm cast to sneak their bait under overhanging branches.
Fly fishing, on the other hand, is all about precision. Since the fly is so lightweight, anglers must use a special technique called the “fly casting” to deliver their lure to the right spot. The fly casting technique involves pulling the line back behind the angler and then flicking it forward with a quick, smooth motion. Timing and balance are key in fly casting, making it a more technical approach to fishing.
Lures
Finally, the types of lures used in traditional fishing and fly fishing are quite different. In traditional fishing, anglers use a variety of different lures depending on the type of fish they’re trying to catch. These lures can be made of plastic, wood, or metal, and are often designed to mimic the movement of natural prey.
In fly fishing, the lure is called a fly and is typically made from materials like feathers, fur, and thread. These lures are designed to look like insects or small animals that are found in and around the water. Since fly fishing is all about presenting a convincing lure to the fish, the design and size of the fly are critical to success.
While both fishing and fly fishing are popular pastimes that involve catching fish, they are two very different approaches. Traditional fishing is ideal for anglers who want to cast their line and reel in fish using a variety of lures, while fly fishing is a more technical sport that requires precision and patience.
